The Dachshund Beagle mix breed was developed by crossing the Dachshund and the Beagle. These are cute looking dogs and looks incredibly adorable with a long body in proportion with their legs. These dogs are incredibly polite and patient which makes them a great choice for pets. They love to play with children and can have a playtime with them for hours together. They are good with other pets, including dogs. This dog has an inherent hunting instinct and may have a tendency to chase. Keep a keen eye on the dog when it is with any non-canine pet.  It will be better to start the socialization of the dogs right from their puppyhood.

The Dachshund Beagle mix is intelligent, social and love to be surrounded by their human family members. They can show traits of stubbornness and for that reason, their training becomes very crucial. They like to dig which is a behavioral attribute of its Dachshund parent. Care

Exercise

The Doxle is a highly energetic dog and it needs an ample amount of exercise daily. Give the dog plenty of running and playing opportunities. Take the dog out for long walks and jogging regularly. Allow them to dig in open ground at times. A safe open backyard will be preferable for this job. You should unleash the dog during the digging. Play games like fetch with your dog which can be a great outdoor activity. Take the dogs often to a dog park to socialize them with the other dogs.

Grooming

The coat of the dog requires an average amount of grooming. Regular brushing of the hair should be done, preferably twice a week. Clean their eyes and ears by using a damp cloth. Bathe the dogs monthly or fortnightly, depending upon the duration the dog has spent outdoors.  Brush the dog's teeth once in a week.

Medical issues

No breed particular medical problems have been recorded. Just keep up wellbeing and hygiene norms to protect your dog from building up any hereditary or general canine infections. They might be susceptible to problems like heart problems, urinary tract issues, and in rare cases diabetes.

Training

The Dachshund Beagle mix dogs are eager to please their master and training them will be an absolute delight. They can do anything to bring a smile to their master's face. You don't have to do repetitive steps with this dog, and they will easily pick your simple commands like 'SIT,' 'STAY' and 'COME' which will be a part of your house training.

Socialize the dog regularly with other people and dogs to get it acquainted with new faces and situations every time. It will ease the dog's curiosity about other people, animals, and things. To socialize the dog, take it to a nearby dog park and invite your friends or close people to your house. In this way, the dog would be able to meet new people and socialize well with other people apart from family members.

Diet/Feeding

There is no special requirement for the feeding of the Doxel dogs. Provide them with superior quality and highly nutritious food. You can give the dogs one and a half to two cups of dry kibble per day divided into two to three meals per day. Do not overfeed the dog as it may tend to get obese.

Interesting Facts

The DBR (Designer Breed Registry) is the main canine registry where the Doxle has been enrolled as 'Beaschund' or 'Doxie'.
